From quantum simulation to a testable prototype
Make the question explicit
A quantum simulation starts with a defined system, assumptions and a measurable question. In energy research, this might concern how a model behaves as coupling, noise or system size changes.
Track the boundaries of the model
Numerical approximations and computational resources limit what a simulation can represent. Recording those limits is part of the result, not an optional qualification.
Compare with a classical approach
A useful investigation asks what an existing classical model can already do. The comparison needs an agreed metric and comparable resources; quantum advantage should be tested rather than assumed.
Design the next experiment
A prototype should make the next decision easier. Reproducible inputs, documented parameters and clear evaluation criteria help other researchers assess whether the proposed approach merits further work.
